Design engineering

FSI provides custom designs to upgrade press or machine components that may need strengthening, modification, or enhancement. We design entire machines, presses, hydraulic systems, or controls for specific process requirements and new innovation. We design 'below-the-hook' device solutions and pressure vessel components that meet any code requirements. 

FSI provides customers improved designs for obsolete components or systems when the original manufacturer is either no longer in business or unable to provide the information.  FSI provides these services through inspection in our facility or by sending our experienced engineers to the customer site. With our industry experience and design knowledge, we apply all the appropriate functions, fits, and tolerances for the best possible process and system performance. 

FSI has a reputation for excellence in design. Our engineers, designers, and technicians put mechanical fit, function, and safety above all. Our designs meet all required codes, specifications, stress tolerances, and pressure requirements. We use Finite Element Analysis (FEA) as well as industry standard calculations to confirm our designs are sound and superior. By leveraging our experience and understanding of manufacturing, we ensure our customers receive economic solutions.

FSI is an authorized integrator for Rockwell Automation and a complete software toolkit holder. We are well-acquainted with the Allen Bradley product line and use this platform widely in the equipment and systems that we design and supply. All our electrical and controls panels are built in-house. We have installed controls throughout the industry in many applications such as large forging presses (closed die and open die), furnace operations, billet descalers, automated material handling lines, and many others. As hydraulics experts, we have vast knowledge of both oil-based and water-based systems. We design hydraulic systems for large forging processes, as well as our own internal custom manifold circuits. We also supply extensive piping system designs and manufacture drawings throughout many industries. We collaborate with hydraulic component suppliers to offer turnkey hydraulic systems solutions for entire facility expansions and new facility implementations. We at FSI are experts with process piping, boiler, and pressure vessel codes.
